”Undulating Akrasboning” was recorded live in Marcia Bassett's Brooklyn apartment in early 2022. It follows her thread where improvised sound and language are shapeshifting thought and space. Mesmerizing gestures deviate, repeat and dissolve into an undulating spectrum of sound colors that never stop moving and breathing. Tones, patterns, and reverberations morph through the present. A complex play evolves, slowly rising and falling through space, fragmentary text is spoken, an abstracted voice rises within the energy of the chaos as if in a destabilized landscape hovering between reality and fiction.
In addition to her solo work (both as Zaïmph and under her own name), Marcia Bassett is known for her work with the groups Double Leopards; GHQ; Hototogisu, as well as her collaborations with Samara Lubelski, Margarida Garcia, Ted Gordon, and Ursula Scherrer. The Buchla Music Easel, modular synthesizer, and guitar are central to her artistic work. Recent releases appear on Feeding Tube Records, No Rent Records, and Yew Recordings.
